A beautiful example of a 19th Century slate and marble striking drum head mantle clock with an 8-day movement by Noel manufactured in a town called Montfermeil, France around 1880
(Montfermeil is to the north east of Paris and is famous as the location of Thénardiers' inn in Les Misérables)

The case is black slate with striped green marble inla
y around the drumhead and at the top of the base. The dial is white enamel with black roman numerals and is in excellent condition Both the front glass and the rear glass are of quality bevelled edged glass.

It has been cleaned and serviced and is in full working order. It keeps excellent time and strikes on the hour and on the half hour. The key is present.

As you would expect the slate does have one or two nibbles but nothing to detract from the overall beauty of this timepiece.
