We found this stove in a small village in the Madelaines Mountains in the Rhone Alpes region. It is enamelled on all four sides in a deep green colour , and on each side of the casting is a flowing Art Nouveau pattern. The stove sits on 4 cabriole legs and the firebox is visible through the front mica window The natural and continuous Art Nouveau design dates the stove to around 1900 This stove was designed for use in the day room of a Manoir or small Chateau. The small oven and hot plate was used to keep the infusion hot all day for the Chatelaine. (Lady of the Manor) In modern times, this type of stove is ideal for a dining room or conservatory where it will keep food warm for as long as you need. There is some discoloration to the enamel and some scorching around the front fire door which is quite usual. Fuel can be loaded from the front or right hand door
This stove is very unusual and would make a fantastic focal point & will add grandeur to any period home. It would also compliment an elegant conservatory. If you are looking for an individual piece of French 20th C history with a stunning Art Nouveau design, then look no further. This is a rare opportunity to own an elegant stove which does not come on the market very often so we advise you to make an offer early.
