|
This is a stove in the Art Nouveau style from the early 1900's manufactured in the Jura mountains at Dole by Audemar & Guyon. The colour is a rich brown gloss enamel with green enamel panels on the top, front, left & right sides. It burns wood, coal or coke making it a very versatile stove. Fuel is loaded from the top. Simply lift the enamel lid and a hotplate is revealed! Lift the inner lid to the firebox and pop in the wood or coal . The construction is of heavy cast iron, and it is very heavy. It is in full functioning order and the firebox and riddler are all in excellent condition. The mica viewing windows have all been renewed with top quality mica and should therefore last for many years to come. There are a several chips to the enamel, on the door and on the back panel, all consistent with a stove that is more or less 100 years old and the condition is consistent with its age and use. Remember that this stove probably heated the same house for a couple of generations so is full of the character that defines such an important piece in a home. This is a beautiful, unusual stove and these photos do not really do it justice. The dimensions are: 80cms H (31½”) x 34.5cms W (13½”) x 35cms D (13¾”) Please note that the height with the lid open is 106cms (41¾”) , and the width & depth at the feet is 41cms (16¼”) The flue size is 9.7cms (3¾”) 62cms (24½”) from the floor. weight is estimated at 60kgs (132lbs)
