This is a stove in the Art
Deco style from the 1930's manufactured in the Fonderies et Forges of
Maine called the Caloria No
1. This stove is typical of the Art Deco movement and looks like a mini
"Empire State Building"! The colour is a rich high gloss French blue enamel. It is in
superb condition and the enamel is like new. It burns wood, coal or coke making it a
very versatile stove.
Fuel is loaded from the top.
Simply lift the enamel lid and then the second lid to the firebox and
pop in the wood or coal . The construction is of heavy cast iron, and it
is quite a lump. It is in full functioning
order and the firebox, grate and riddler are all in excellent condition.
It does have a couple of chips to the enamel visible on the top cover,
this is due to bad storage rather than over-use as this stove has all
the signs of minimal use throughout its life, and even has the original
fire resistant paint on the back.
This is a beautiful,
unusual stove and these photos do
not really do it justice.
The
dimensions are:
63cms H (24¾”) x 35cms W (13¾”)
x 32cms D (12½”) and the flue size is 9.7cms (3¾”) 42cms (16½”)
from the floor
