We found this stove in a small village overlooking lake Annecy on the Swiss border, and what a wonderful and unusual stove it is. It is enamelled in a rich burgundy colour on all four sides, and on each side of the casting is a pair of crested Birds of Paradise. The superbly flowing corner pillars are nickelled. The natural and continuous Art Nouveau design dates the stove to around 1910. We acquired it from the Granddaughter of the original owner and she told us that this stove had not been lit since 1947! So this stove has been in same the family from new - great provenance! The condition is absolutely magnificent, and the colour is superb. The firebox, riddler and ash box are all in excellent working order and it is ready to use, and the mica in the door has been renewed. It is quite tall - 89cms (35”)H x 40cms (15¾”)W x 40cms (15¾”)D. The flue is 9.7cms (3¾”) in diameter and is 77cms (17¾”) from the floor . This stove would add grandeur to any period home and would also compliment an elegant conservatory. If you are looking for an individual piece of French 20th C history with a stunning Art Nouveau design, then look no further. This is a rare opportunity to own an elegant stove which does not come on the market very often so we advise you to make an offer early.
