multi-fuel stove

SOLDPrice: £695

This is a stove in the Art Nouveau style from the early 1900's called "Le Parisien" No 12.  The colour is a high gloss black enamel with porcelain tiled inserts depicting an exotic type of lily, so typical of the French art nouveau movement, on the front, left & right sides. It burns wood, coal or coke making it a very versatile stove.

Fuel is loaded from the top. Simply rotate the enamel lid to the left ( as seen in the photo) and voila a hotplate is revealed! Lift the inner lid to the firebox and pop in the wood or coal . The construction is of heavy cast iron, and it is very heavy.

The front door has been completely stripped and re-nickelled and the mica viewing panels have also been replaced with top quality mica and should therefore last for many years to come.

"Le Parisien" is in full functioning order and the firebox and riddler are all in excellent working order. The firebricks have had some replacement/repair work done making the firebox fully functional again . There are a several chips to the enamel, on the edges of the side panels and on the back panel, all consistent with a stove that is more or less 100 years old and the condition is consistent with its age and use. There is also some scorching above the front door due to a broken firebrick. This is virtually unnoticeable as the enamel is black, the cast iron has been burnished with graphite stove paste.

Remember that a stove such as this, was the focal point of the parlor in the previous owner's home - if only it could talk!!

This is indeed a rare opportunity to purchase a beautiful, unusual working stove and the photos do not do it justice.

The dimensions are:

84cms H (33”) x 37cms W (14”)  x 31cms D (12¼”)  and the flue size is 8.3cms (3¼”) 37cms (14½”) from the floor. The width at the feet is 47cms (18½”)and the depth at the feet is 35cms(13¾”)

weight is estimated at 65kgs   (143lbs)
