Antique French stoves of all designs and styles

"Mah Jong"

oriental style stove

by Faure

This Faure wood burning stove is a highly unusual example from the Art Nouveau period. The unusual styling is of an oriental feel hence the term "Mah Jong" style. This style is influenced by the French equivalent of the British aesthetic movement called "Symbolism" or "Decadence" from the very latter part of the 19th C. It is beautiful in a rich brown enamel, and has a fantastic motif that is continuous throughout the stove which is enamelled an all sides. The feet are also very nicely cast.

It is in good condition considering it is around 95 years old  It is in full functioning order and can burn all types of wood and the firebox is in excellent condition.

There are a couple of marks to the enamel, and some chips on the side loading door, which cannot be seen from the front view. This is to be expected from a piece of this age.

If you are looking for something completely different from your friends and family then look no further, this is a beautiful original stove and these photos do not capture the beauty and essence of this stove .
